WWOOFing is an activity that is presumed to be non-paid, in the same way as agricultural mutual aid, as the conditions for exercising the activity do not characterize a salaried activity. The WWOOFer is therefore not an employee, his reception must not meet a need for labor and his arrival must remain occasional and of a limited duration. Note that Mutualité Sociale Agricole, MSA (French Agricultural Social Security) and WWOOF France have agreed on a common definition of WWOOFing.
To ensure that you are in compliance with WWOOF France and the MSA, it is therefore necessary to:
- Check that the WWOOFer who contacts you is a member of the association and that his membership will be valid for the entire stay. This point is particularly necessary if a WWOOFer contacts you by telephone or by another means than the site (Facebook…).
- Limit to a welcome of 2 WWOOFers maximum or a family.
- Sign the declaration between host and WWOOFer, as soon as the latter arrives. This document clearly states that the WWOOFer who comes to your home does so freely and for a specified period of time.
- Do not offer sales/fairs at markets to your WWOOFers, but only observation.
